If you're looking for the perfect escape from Marrakech, consider a full-day trip to Ouarzazate and the famous kasbahs, including the iconic Ait Ben Haddou. This journey will allow you to explore historic sites and enjoy breathtaking mountain views while experiencing Morocco's rich culture and stunning landscapes.
We pick you up in the morning and leave the red city of Marrakech for a journey through the breathtaking countryside via the High Atlas Mountains. We will cross the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, which at 2260 meters of altitude is the highest drivable pass in North Africa. This scenic route offers spectacular views of the rugged mountain landscape and the traditional Berber villages scattered along the way.
On our way to Ouarzazate, we will stop to visit the famous fortified city of Ait Benhaddou, a stunning example of traditional Moroccan earthen architecture. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ait Benhaddou has served as the backdrop for many Hollywood films, including Gladiator and Prince of Persia. You can explore the narrow streets, climb to the top for panoramic views, and soak in the historical charm of this ancient ksar.
We will enjoy a guided city tour of Ouarzazate, whose name means "no noise" in Berber. Known as the "Gateway to the Sahara," Ouarzazate is famous for its film studios and historical landmarks. We will visit the impressive Taourirt Kasbah and the nearby Tifoultoute Kasbah, both of which were once the residences of the powerful Glaoui family, the former governors of Marrakech.
After exploring Ouarzazate, we will stop for lunch at a local Moroccan restaurant, where you can enjoy traditional dishes such as tagine and couscous. After lunch, we will make our way back to Marrakech, arriving in the evening with unforgettable memories of the High Atlas Mountains and the rich history of Morocco.
I should be incapable of drawing a single stroke at the present moment; and yet I feel that I never was a greater artist than now. When, while the lovely valley teems with vapour around me
