The day trip from Marrakech to Ourika Valley is a journey into one of Morocco's most picturesque regions. From hiking to the waterfalls of Setti Fatma to visiting traditional Berber villages, this trip is packed with unforgettable experiences. The dramatic contrast of lush green valleys and snow-capped Atlas Mountains creates the perfect backdrop for stunning photos. Add a stop at a local argan oil cooperative and enjoy a delicious Berber Tagine by the stream for a truly memorable Moroccan adventure.
The 1-day trip to Ourika Valley starts with a convenient pick-up from your riad in Marrakech at 9:00 a.m. We will leave Marrakech and drive toward the majestic Atlas Mountains, where you will experience breathtaking landscapes and discover authentic Berber villages dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. This verdant, fertile region is rich with fruit and olive trees, lush gardens, and flowing rivers. Just an hour's drive from the bustling Marrakech medina, you’ll find yourself immersed in this peaceful natural paradise, with only the sound of birds breaking the silence.
We will visit a traditional Berber house to experience how local people live and cook. From the house's roof, you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of a 17th-century village and the Ourika Valley.
The house owner will host a traditional Moroccan mint tea ceremony, showing us how to prepare mint tea step-by-step. Afterward, you’ll be served a local breakfast consisting of bread, butter, honey, olive oil, and tea — a true taste of Berber hospitality.
Next, we will continue deeper into the valley, stopping for an unforgettable camel ride in Ourika Valley for around 20 minutes. Then, we’ll embark on a two-hour guided hike to visit the famous Setti Fatma waterfalls, where fresh snowmelt water cascades down massive rocks. This is one of the most picturesque areas in the Atlas Mountains and a favorite destination for visitors to Marrakech.
In the afternoon, we will stop for a delicious lunch at a riverside restaurant along the edge of the river. Here, you can savor authentic Moroccan dishes while enjoying the relaxing ambiance of the valley.
In the late afternoon, we will return to Marrakech, completing an unforgettable day trip filled with stunning landscapes, rich culture, and authentic Moroccan experiences.
