The 8-day tour from Tangier to Merzouga will take you through Morocco's imperial cities of Fes, Meknes, Marrakech, and Rabat. Experience the enchanting blue streets of Chefchaouen, stunning views of the High Atlas Mountains, and a panoramic vista of Ziz Valley. You'll pass through the cedar forest of Azrou, visit ancient kasbahs, and embark on a camel ride through the Sahara Desert. Spend the night in a luxury desert camp, and witness both the sunrise and sunset over the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Discover the historic Medina of Fes, explore the iconic Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, and marvel at the breathtaking Todra Gorges.
We will meet you in Tangier, the northern port of Morocco facing Spain, and drive through the Rif Mountains with its Berber towns and valleys. Hidden in these mountains is the Blue Pearl, Chefchaouen; the houses are painted white and blue, and narrow squares, winding streets, and blue-painted stairways make this a photographer's dream and a fascinating place to explore.
After lunch in the atmospheric square, we continue to Meknes, where we visit the local sites Bab Mansour, the Swani basin, and Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. We will stay overnight in a charming hotel or Riad.
After breakfast, we leave the Imperial city of Meknes and drive south to Volubilis, a strategically ruined Roman town. We will enjoy a guided visit and an interesting explanation of some archaeological finds there.
Then, we continue to Fes for another guided tour, including the Royal Palace, the pottery center, the Quaraouiyine University, the Tanneries, the Bou Inania Medersa (school), the Attarine Museum, and the Moulay Idriss mausoleum.
After lunch, you'll visit many cooperatives and experience a fantastic panoramic view over the whole Medina of Fes before ending the night at your Riad.
After breakfast, we will drive to Merzouga via Imouzzer, Ifrane, and Midelt, which is famous for its apple tree farms. We will cross the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains, with a perfect view of Ayachi Mountain and its snowy peak in winter. We will then cross Errachidia and the palm tree-filled oasis of the Ziz Valley.
We will continue to Erfoud and Rissani, where we will visit the local souk. We will arrive in Merzouga and start the camel trek across the dunes to our desert camp. We will stay overnight in a desert camp and enjoy dinner near the campfire, listening to music and songs under the blanket of stars overhead.
We recommend an early morning start to experience the wonder of the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. Then, enjoy breakfast. We will return by camel to the hotel, where you will meet your driver.
Our trip continues as we depart the desert for Rissani and Erfoud. We visit the workshops where marble and fossils are cleaned and crafted into outstanding projects.
We continue to the Berber village of Touroug and Tinjdad to see the palm groves and arrive in the Todra Gorge, where we will have lunch and explore this canyon with its 300-meter-high vertical walls and crystalline clear water.
Later in the afternoon, we will drive to Dades Gorge via Boumalne Dades for our overnight stop, where you can enjoy dinner, and we will sleep in a traditional local hotel.
After breakfast, we will return down the windy road to Dades Valley so you can visit the Kasbah of Ait Youl and the track road crossing Rose Valley with its Kasbah and sours, as well as the strange rock formations known as "the fat monkey fingers." This stretch of the road offers incredible landscapes as we travel to Kelaat M'gouna, where we will stop to see the rose products.
We will continue to the palm groves of Skoura and the Amridil Kasbah before reaching Ouarzazate, where you can visit the Kasbah of Taourirt and the cinema studio. Then, we will drive to the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO site known as a famous film set, where we will visit the old fortified village.
After lunch, we will depart across the High Atlas Mountains for Marrakech in the afternoon via the Tizi n'Tichka pass. We will arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
After breakfast, we will tour some crucial places in Marrakech: the Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, Medrasa Ben Youssef, Jemaa el Fna Square, Bahia Palace, and the local souks.
Then, we drive to Essaouira. Along the way, we will see goats climbing the Argan trees grown in this region of Morocco.
As Essaouira is on the Atlantic coast, there is abundant seafood and fish to enjoy for lunch.
Later in the afternoon, you can explore this charming coastal medina on your own. We will spend the night in a hotel or a riad.
After breakfast, we will drive to Rabat, Morocco's political and administrative capital, along the Atlantic coast. Rabat is very modern but also full of history with its old medina.
Here, we will visit the Kasbah of Oudayas, the Hassan Tower, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V.
We will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and stay overnight in a hotel.
After breakfast, we will drive to Tangier. Depending on your flight or ferry departure times, we will transfer you to the airport or port.
