You will meet our team in Tangier. First, we will explore the beautiful city, including Hercules Cave and Cape Spartel, and enjoy some free time for lunch. Then, we head to Chefchaouen via Tetouan and the Rif Mountains. To fully enjoy the breathtaking landscape view, we'll set up at the feet of the Rif mountains in Chefchaouen.
In the afternoon, we will arrive in the beautiful blue city of Chefchaouen, where you'll have the chance to wander around this fabulous town with its medina adorned with a meld of white and blue buildings and creative shops. In addition, you'll walk through the charming square of Uta el-Hammam and many rooftop restaurants where you can enjoy dinner. Overnight in a riad in the medina.
After a delicious breakfast, our trip continues towards Fes, crossing over Ouazzan and other Rif Berber villages. Upon arrival, you will have half a day of sightseeing in Fez, Morocco's spiritual city. Our visit starts at the Royal Palace gate and walks through the Jewish Quarter, the first Mellah in Morocco during the 16th century. You will also enjoy a fantastic panoramic view of the Medina of Fez.
After lunch, we will explore the Medina of Fes el Bali, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was founded in the nineteenth century and is home to the world's oldest university. You'll walk through its winding alleys while visiting culturally and historically significant sites. First, you will visit the famous Al Qaraouine Mosque.
Next, you'll see one of the oldest Al-Qaraouine universities in the world, the Madrassa Bouanania, the Tanneries, and the Najjarine Fountain. Overnight in a riad in the medina.
After breakfast, we will drive to Merzouga through the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. Our first stop will be Ifrane, known as Morocco's Switzerland. Here, you can take in the city's stunning views. Then, we go to the famous cedar forest, home to the Berber apes.
We'll then continue through the Tiz Ntalghamt Mountain Pass and the Ziz Gorge (where we can stop for pictures and some local mint tea) to Midelt. We'll then continue to Merzouga; here, you will take a camel ride to the Sahara desert, enjoy the sunset, have dinner, and stay overnight in the desert camp.
The day will start by waking up early to witness the sunrise spectacle as the dunes' colors blend with the shifting shadows, creating a breathtaking view. Afterward, you will ride the camels back to meet your guide/driver and begin your day by driving to Rissani, which was once a major hub for trade caravans and home to one of the most important traditional markets in the region.
This town also holds historical significance as the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty — Morocco's current ruling royal family. We will pass through Erfoud, known for its rich deposits of fossils, where you will have the opportunity to visit one of the local fossil workshops (if you're interested).
Continuing through the Berber villages of Tinjdad, we will arrive at the impressive Todgha Gorges, a series of limestone river canyons with towering red cliffs. You will have time to walk through the gorges and admire the dramatic scenery. Finally, we will spend the night at a comfortable hotel in Boumalne Dades.
The last day will start from Boumalne Dades, driving through the villages of this charming area, passing the rose fields of Kelaa Magona, known as the Valley of the Roses. This area is famous for its annual Rose Festival in May. We will continue along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs toward the Skoura Oasis, where we can stop to visit the historic Kasbah Amridil.
Next, we'll head towards Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Morocco. Here, you'll have the opportunity to visit the world's largest movie studios. We will then explore the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the largest Kasbah in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Several iconic films, including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia, have been shot here.
From there, we will begin crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N'Tichka Pass, which reaches an altitude of 2,260 meters. We will stop to admire the panoramic mountain views before arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon, where this five-day tour in Morocco ends with a drop-off at your riad.
