4-Day Itinerary from Errachidia to Marrakech

Start at the dunes, finish in the Red City.

1

Day 1: Errachidia → Ziz Valley → Erfoud → Merzouga → Camel Trek → Luxury Camp

We collect you from your Errachidia hotel or the airport and drive south through the Ziz Valley, stopping at the panoramic viewpoint over the palm grove. Continue to Erfoud to see the fossil workshops, then arrive in Merzouga by mid-afternoon. After mint tea, meet your camel guide for the sunset trek into Erg Chebbi. Watch the sun sink behind the dunes, then continue to your luxury desert camp for dinner, Berber drumming, and stargazing. Driving: 2 hours. Camel trek: 1.5 hours.

2

Day 2: Sunrise → Khamlia → Rissani → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley

Wake for the sunrise over the dunes, then enjoy breakfast at camp. Return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4. We visit Khamlia for live Gnawa music and tea with the local community. Then explore Rissani and its historic souk (on market days) or the Moulay Ali Cherif Mausoleum. After lunch, we drive west to the Todra Gorge, where 300-meter red cliff walls rise from the river. Take a walk through the canyon before continuing to the Dades Valley for dinner and overnight at a riad. Driving: 4 hours.

3

Day 3: Dades Valley → Rose Valley → Skoura → Ait Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate

After breakfast, we drive the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, stopping at the Monkey Fingers rock formation and the Rose Valley in Kalaat M'gouna. In spring, the valley is filled with the scent of damask roses used in perfumes and oils. We continue through the palm oasis of Skoura and visit the iconic Ait Ben Haddou — a UNESCO World Heritage ksar featured in Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and The Mummy. Walk the ancient mud-brick lanes and climb to the rooftop for panoramic views. Dinner and overnight near Ouarzazate or at Ait Ben Haddou. Driving: 4 hours.

4

Day 4: Ait Ben Haddou → Tizi N'Tichka → High Atlas → Marrakech

On the final day, we cross the Tizi N'Tichka Pass (2,260 meters) through the High Atlas Mountains. The winding road offers spectacular views of Berber villages, terraced fields, and snow-capped peaks (in winter). We stop for photos and lunch at a panoramic restaurant. By late afternoon, we descend into Marrakech and drop you at your riad or the airport. You have crossed Morocco from the Sahara to the Red City without a single repeated kilometer. Driving: 5 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why start in Errachidia instead of Marrakech?

If you start in Marrakech, you spend Day 1 and Day 2 driving to the desert, then Day 3 and Day 4 driving back the same road. Starting in Errachidia puts you at the desert in 2 hours, then you travel west through new scenery every day — gorges, valleys, kasbahs, and mountains — ending in Marrakech. It is the most efficient routing in Morocco.

How long is the total driving on this tour?

Day 1: 2 hours. Day 2: 4 hours. Day 3: 4 hours. Day 4: 5 hours. The longest day is the final Atlas crossing, but it is broken up with photo stops and lunch.

Can I fly into Errachidia and out of Marrakech?

Yes. This tour is specifically designed for that routing. Royal Air Maroc flies from Casablanca to Errachidia (ERH), and you can book your outbound flight from Marrakech (RAK). This is the most popular flight combination for this tour.

What is included?

Private transport from Errachidia to Marrakech, driver/guide, 3 nights' accommodation (1 luxury camp, 2 riads/hotels), breakfasts and dinners, camel trek, sandboarding, Khamlia visit, and Rissani souk.

Is the tour private?

Yes. Fully private with your own 4×4 and driver.

What time do we arrive in Marrakech on Day 4?

Typically around 6:00 PM. If you have a flight that evening, we recommend booking after 9:00 PM. Alternatively, add an extra night in Marrakech to explore the medina.

What should I pack?

Layers for mountain cold and desert heat, a warm jacket for camp nights, comfortable walking shoes for the gorges and kasbah, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a power bank.

Is this suitable for families?

Yes. The variety keeps children engaged — camels, sandboarding, monkey fingers rocks, and the mountain passes. The drives are manageable with stops.

"Brilliant routing. We flew into Errachidia, spent the first night in the Sahara, then worked our way to Marrakech over 4 days. Every day was different — dunes, gorges, rose valley, mountains. Our driver was a legend. Ait Ben Haddou at sunset was magical. This is how Morocco should be done."

    TripAdvisor ★★★★★

"We did the math. A 4-day tour from Marrakech would have meant 4 days in a car with only 1 night in the desert. This Errachidia start gave us 1 night in the desert plus 3 days of new scenery. The Todra Gorge walk was a highlight we did not expect. Highly efficient and beautiful."

    TripAdvisor ★★★★★

"The luxury camp was incredible. Hot shower in the desert! Then waking up and moving west through completely different landscapes each day. By the time we reached Marrakech we felt like we had seen three different countries. The driver knew every photo spot. Perfectly organized."
