The 6-day tour from Casablanca to the Sahara Desert starts with us picking you up from your hotel or the airport and driving to Chefchaouen via Rabat. During your time in Rabat, you will explore notable sites such as the Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of Oudaya, followed by a local lunch.
Afternoon: Chefchaouen
In the afternoon, we will continue our journey north through Ouazzane to reach the blue city of Chefchaouen, nestled in the Rif Mountains. This charming city is famous for its white and blue houses and picturesque alleyways. We will spend the night in a hotel in this delightful blue city.
The drive from Casablanca to Chefchaouen takes approximately 6 hours with stops, making this a scenic but full first day.
After breakfast, you will have a free morning to explore the picturesque lanes of Chefchaouen.
Morning: Volubilis
Our trip will take us to Volubilis, one of Morocco's major archaeological sites, where we can explore the ancient Berber-Roman ruins. Numerous stunning mosaics, historic pillars, and archways surround the site.
Afternoon: Meknes
Following our visit to the ruins, we will drive 30 kilometers to Meknes, the Ismaili capital and one of Morocco's imperial cities. In Meknes, we will visit Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Our journey will continue to Fes, where we will spend the night in a Riad.
The drive from Chefchaouen to Volubilis is about 3.5 hours, with Meknes just 30 minutes beyond the ruins.
Today, you will explore Fes with a local guide. Fes, known as the imperial city and home to the oldest university in the world, dates back to the 9th century and is one of the most medieval cities globally. It feels like a place caught between the Middle Ages and the present, surrounded by massive walls.
You will enjoy wandering through its narrow alleys and large antique gates. We will start the day by visiting the Royal Palace gate, followed by the world's oldest mosque and university, Al Quaraouiyine.
After this, we will proceed to the Jewish district, known as the Mellah.
Following our tour of the Jewish Quarter, we will visit the Chouara leather tanneries, the largest in Fes. Our guide will take you to the most fascinating landmarks throughout the city.
Finally, you will spend the night at the same Riad in Fes.

Morning: Azrou Cedar Forest
Our journey begins with a pickup from the Riad as we travel through the stunning Atlas Mountains. We will continue through Ifrane and arrive at Azrou's cedar forest, where you can see Barbary macaques. Feel free to feed them as you stroll through the forest.
Afternoon: Ziz Valley
Next, we will stop in Midelt, where you will have some free time for lunch. Then, we will enjoy the views of Ziz Valley, which is lined with Morocco's second-longest palm trees.
Evening: Merzouga Desert
The highlight of our 6-day tour from Casablanca to the Sahara Desert will be camel trekking and camping in nomadic tents in Merzouga. Upon our arrival in Merzouga, a camel guide will meet you and take you on an unforgettable ride through the dunes, with a stop to admire the stunning sunset. When we reach the camp, we will show you to your tent, where you will spend the night. Enjoy a traditional and delicious dinner, followed by a lively drumming and dancing party with locals around the fire. Finally, you can climb one of the dunes to gaze at the stars in the night sky.
The journey from Fes to Merzouga is roughly 7–8 hours of driving, broken up by scenic stops. We recommend packing a small backpack for the camel trek; your main luggage stays safely at the hotel and is transported to the camp separately.
We will wake you to enjoy the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes and have breakfast at the camp. Then, we'll leave the desert and travel to Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains an essential economic center in the region, with the largest souk bustling three days a week.
Morning: Erfoud
We will pass through Rissani before heading to Erfoud to visit one of the petrified marble workshops.
Afternoon: Todra Gorges
Our journey continues to the Todra Gorges via Touroug and the palm fields of Tinghir. The Todra River has carved a deep gorge through the mountains, creating a canyon with striking red cliff edges. These gorges are ideal destinations for mountain climbers. You will have the opportunity to explore the gorges and admire the stunning landscape, with a stop for lunch along the way.
Evening: Dades Valley
Next, we will continue to the Dades Valley, passing through Boumalne Dades. We can't miss a pause at the famous Monkey Fingers rock formation and enjoy a vantage point overlooking the Dades Valley. Ultimately, we will conclude the day with dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel.
The sunrise camel ride is optional but highly recommended — the early group is smaller, and watching the dunes turn from purple to blazing orange is a memory you will never forget.

Morning: Rose Valley
Our first stop will be the Rose Valley in Kalaat Magouna, known for its annual Rose Festival held each May. During this festival, locals sell rose-related products, including perfumes, rose water, oils, and beauty items.
Midday: Ouarzazate
Next, we will drive to Ouarzazate, passing through the palm orchards of Skoura. Here, you'll have the opportunity to visit the studios where many famous films were shot.
Afternoon: Ait Ben Haddou
Following this, we will visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized for its well-preserved fortified village. This iconic location has also been featured in several movies, including "Gladiator," "Queen of the Desert," and "The Mummy."
Evening: Arrival in Marrakech
Afterward, we will cross the Tizi N'Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains on our way to Marrakech. We will stop for lunch and take photos at some breathtaking spots along the route. When we arrive in Marrakech, we will transport you to your Riad.
We typically arrive in Marrakech by early evening (around 6:30 PM). If you are flying out the same night, we recommend booking a flight after 9:00 PM, or better yet, adding an extra night in Marrakech to explore the medina at leisure.

Most travelers find 7–12 days ideal for a first Morocco visit, but 6 days works perfectly if you are comfortable with an active pace.
We typically arrive in Marrakech by around 6:30 PM, depending on traffic and photo stops. If you are planning to fly out on the last day, we strongly recommend choosing a flight that departs after 9:00 PM to allow enough time for transfer and check-in. Many travelers prefer to add an extra night in Marrakech to explore the medina before flying home.

The longest driving day is from Fes to Merzouga (approximately 7–8 hours), broken up by scenic stops in Ifrane, Azrou, Midelt, and Ziz Valley. Day 1 from Casablanca to Chefchaouen is about 6 hours. Day 6 from Dades to Marrakech is roughly 6 hours with stops at Ait Ben Haddou and the Atlas Mountains. All other days are shorter and more relaxed.
Not at the gentle pace we run it. The camels walk slowly, led on foot by an experienced handler, and the sunset ride to camp is only about 1 to 1.5 hours. If you would rather not ride, we can drive you to the camp by 4×4 instead — just let us know in advance.
You leave your main luggage at the hotel in Merzouga, and it is transported to the camp separately by vehicle. You only need to carry a small backpack with your essentials for the camel trek (toiletries, camera, warm layers). Other travelers recommend bringing a headlamp with a red-light option for nighttime bathroom trips.
We recommend packing light, breathable layers for warm days, a warm jacket or fleece for cold desert nights (temperatures can drop close to 0°C in winter), a scarf for sun and blowing sand, closed-toe shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and a camera. Do not forget a power bank for charging your devices. Bring toilet paper or tissues for roadside stops.
It depends on the season. Spring and autumn nights are cool but pleasant (12–18°C). Winter nights (December–February) can drop close to freezing, so pack serious warm layers. Merzouga (Erg Chebbi) offers real sand dunes — tall, golden landscapes and immersive desert experiences. It is ideal for 3+ day tours. Zagora is a rocky desert with limited dunes but is closer to Marrakech and suitable for shorter 2-day trips. For a true Sahara experience, Merzouga is the better choice.
