Day 5: Fes ⇢ Middle Atlas mountains ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Merzouga Desert

Our 7-day trip from Casablanca to the desert begins with breakfast, followed by our departure to the Middle Atlas Mountains. We will make a brief stop in Ifrane, often called the "Switzerland of Africa," where you can take in the stunning Alpine-like scenery. We then proceed to Azrou National Park, home to a magnificent cedar forest inhabited by friendly monkeys. The park is also a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts.

Next, we head to Midelt for lunch. This town is notable for its towering mountains at an altitude of 1,488 meters and serves as a gateway to the desert. After lunch, we continue our journey, passing through the beautiful Ziz Gorges and stopping to enjoy panoramic views of Berber villages and the Ziz Valley, famous for its dramatic landscapes.

Our journey continues to Erfoud, known for its rich history of fossils and minerals. From here, we head toward the mesmerizing Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga, where you will be welcomed with a glass of refreshing mint tea. Afterward, enjoy an unforgettable camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes, where you can witness a stunning sunset. The day ends with a night spent in a traditional Berber camp, where you will enjoy a delicious dinner and local Berber music around the campfire.

6

Day 6: Merzouga Desert ⇢ Toudgha Gorges ⇢ Dades Valley

We will wake you early to enjoy the breathtaking sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes and have a hearty breakfast at the camp. Afterward, we'll leave the desert behind and head to Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains an essential economic hub in the region, home to the largest souk, bustling three days a week. We will pass through Rissani on our way to Erfoud, where we will visit one of the local petrified marble workshops.

Our journey continues towards the Todra Gorges, passing through the palm fields of Tinghir. The Todra River has carved a deep gorge through the mountains, creating striking red cliffs that stand tall around you. These gorges are popular with mountain climbers, and you will have the opportunity to explore the canyon and admire the spectacular landscape. We will stop for lunch along the way, soaking in the incredible views.

Next, we will head to the Dades Valley, passing through Boumalne Dades. Here, we will visit the famous Monkey Fingers rock formations and take in panoramic views of the Dades Valley. The Rose Valley is unique, as it is the only place in Morocco where natural rose water is extracted for use in cosmetics and anti-wrinkle products.

Next, we will continue to Ouarzazate, also known as Moroccan Hollywood, passing through the beautiful Skoura palm grove. We will stop at the iconic Kasbah Amridil, a classic example of the stunning kasbah architecture of the region.
