Travel from Casablanca to the iconic blue town of Chefchaouen, then explore imperial cities like Rabat, Fez, and Meknes. You'll experience the magic of the Merzouga Sahara Desert and ride camels. Spend the night in a luxury desert camp under the starry sky, see today's gorges and Skoura Oasis, visit the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, and finish in vibrant Marrakech. This 8-day Morocco itinerary is packed with adventure, culture, and wonder.
After meeting you at your hotel or the airport in Casablanca, we will start our 8-day tour from Casablanca. We will drive first to the Hassan II mosque, built in 1993, which is the largest mosque in Africa and the third largest in the Arab world. Then, we will head to Rabat, the capital, where we will explore the Hassan Tower and the Kasbah of the Udayas, a coastal and fortified kasbah built by the Moorish family in the 17th century.
After lunch, we will continue through the Rif Mountains, passing through valleys and Berber villages with breathtaking views. In the afternoon, we will arrive at the Blue City of Chefchaouen, where you will have time to explore the charming streets before spending the night in a lovely riad in the Medina.
After breakfast, we will drive to Fez, stopping first at the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. This well-preserved site is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site and features many beautiful mosaics, ancient pillars, and arches scattered throughout the area.
After exploring the ruins, we will drive 30 kilometers to Meknes. Known as the Ismaelite capital, Meknes is one of Morocco's imperial cities. While in Meknes, we will visit several key attractions, including Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, the royal stables, the barn, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Finally, we will continue our journey to Fez, staying in a riad or hotel.
Today at 9 a.m., one of our guides will meet you at your accommodation to help you explore the city's rich culture. First, you will visit the king's palace and the Jewish quarter, El Mellah. Next, you will head to south Borj, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the old Medina.
After that, we will take you to the Blue Gate, the main entrance to the Medina. Within the Medina, there are two main streets: one for entering and one for exiting. These two streets run through Fes's bustling market or souks. Additionally, one of the streets is home to the University of al-Qarawiyyin, the oldest existing university in the world.
You will also have the opportunity to visit the tanneries and explore Fez Ceramics, which showcases the region's exceptional artistry, and the Bou Inania Madrasa. Finally, return to your riad.
After breakfast, we will drive south across the middle Atlas Mountains to visit Ifrane, known for its low temperatures, snow, and alpine-style architecture. It's often referred to as the "Switzerland of Morocco."
Next, we'll continue our journey through the cedar forest, home to the Barbary macaques. Feel free to feed them as they roam the area. Later, we will reach Midelt, where you will have some free time for lunch.
Following lunch, we'll drive to Merzouga through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and the picturesque Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views.
In the afternoon, we will arrive at the Sahara Desert in Merzouga, where you can ride camels and traverse the sandy landscape. We will pause at a dune to enjoy the breathtaking sunset before heading to our camp.
Our desert camp combines traditional nomadic tents with the luxury of a hotel. Here, you can enjoy the sounds of Berber drums while dancing around a fire under a vast, starry sky. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be at the desert camp.
Today, you will wake up early to see the beautiful sunrise on the incredible dunes of Erg Chebbi. Then, you will have breakfast and enjoy a camel or 4×4 ride back to meet your driver in Merzouga. Afterward, you will drive to Rissani to visit its traditional market, which is considered the largest in southern Morocco.
After that, you will leave for the gorges of Todra, the highest and narrowest gorge in Morocco, and walk along its beautiful canyon. Lunch will be in a restaurant overlooking the Valley.
After lunch, you will continue the day toward the Dades Valley, where you will see the majestic sand castles and the incredible rock formations known as "finger monkeys." We will spend the night in a hotel or riad overlooking the beautiful Dades Valley.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, you will depart from the gorges of Dades and head to Marrakech. Before you embark on your journey to Marrakech, you will have the opportunity to explore the highlights of the Dades Valley.
Your adventure begins along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, where you'll take a break to visit Kalaat M'Gouna, also known as the Valley of Roses. Here, you can discover various rose products, particularly during the annual Rose Festival in May.
Next, you will visit the Ouarzazate Film Studio, renowned for being the filming location for many famous movies. Ouarzazate is often called the Hollywood of Morocco, and the studio itself is known as Atlas Studio. You will also tour the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a historical caravan stop and a filming location for numerous international films.
Lunch will be at a nearby restaurant, where you can enjoy beautiful views of the Valley and the Kasbah. After lunch, the journey continues through the Tizi N'Tichka pass, which rises to 2,260 meters. Along the way, you will appreciate the stunning scenery of valleys, mountains, and many Berber villages.
You will arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon and check into your accommodation.
Today, you will have a full day to explore Marrakech, one of the imperial cities, its historical monuments, and cultural modes. Our local guide will come to your riad. You will begin to stroll through the historic center of Marrakech and its narrow streets decorated with Moroccan ceramics and local green objects. Then, visit historical sites, such as the oldest mosque in Marrakech, al-Koutoubia mosque, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace, and Jamaa al Fna Square.
In the afternoon, your driver and local guide will take you to visit Majorelle Gardens and the new part of Marrakech, Gueliz. You will also have free time. Finally, return to your riad.
Depending on your departure time, the driver will pick you up from your accommodation and transfer you to Marrakech or Casablanca's airport, where this 8-day Morocco itinerary ends.
