On this 9-day Morocco itinerary, which starts in Casablanca and concludes in Marrakech, you will explore the country's rich diversity. Start by visiting the imperial cities, including Rabat, Morocco's capital, Fes, Meknes, and Marrakech. Wander through the lovely blue streets of Chefchaouen and experience the vibrant medina of Fes, all while uncovering fascinating historical and cultural landmarks.
Pass through the breathtaking landscapes of the High and Middle Atlas Mountains, journeying through the cedar forest and the remarkable canyons of the Todra and Dades Gorges. Meet the nomadic families in the desert and gain insight into their lifestyles. Take a camel ride across the stunning golden dunes of Erg Chebbi and enjoy a night spent under the stars in a luxury desert camp.
Upon landing at Casablanca airport, a staff member will greet you and transfer you to your Riad/hotel in central Casablanca. Depending on your arrival time, our driver will take you to the hotel and allow you to explore the city. You will visit the Corniche and the impressive Hassan II Mosque, considered the third-largest mosque in the world.
After enjoying breakfast, we will start our nine-day Morocco itinerary with a visit to the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world. We will then proceed to Rabat, Morocco's capital, where we will tour key historical landmarks, including the Kasbah of Udayas, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Hassan Tower, the minaret of an unfinished mosque.
Following lunch, we will drive through the Rif Mountains, passing through picturesque valleys and Berber villages that offer breathtaking views. In the afternoon, we will arrive in the Blue City of Chefchaouen, where you will have free time to explore the charming streets. We will spend the night in a beautiful riad in the Medina.
After breakfast, we will drive to Fez, stopping first at the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. This well-preserved site is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site and features stunning mosaics, ancient pillars, and arches scattered throughout the area.
Today, your authentic Moroccan journey will continue towards Volubilis, passing through Ouazzane and other villages in the Rif region. In Volubilis, you'll explore the Roman ruins and gain insights into Morocco's archaeological history. After touring the ruins, we'll head to Meknes, a 17th-century historical site. We'll pause for lunch and stroll through the Medina and Bab el Mansour. Finally, we will drive to Fez, where you will spend the night in a cozy riad in the medina.
Today, you will begin exploring Fez, the most ancient city in Morocco, with a knowledgeable guide. You will stroll through the narrow alleys of the Medina, uncovering its rich cultural and historical landmarks. Your tour will start at the seven doors of the Royal Palace and lead you through the Jewish Quarter, the first Mellah established in Morocco, dating back to the 16th century.
You will visit the renowned Al Karaouine University, the oldest university in the world, and the Madrassa Bouanania. You’ll also explore the Attarine Museum, the Najjarine fountain, and the famous Fez Tanneries, where you can witness the traditional leather-making process.
After enjoying lunch, you'll visit the tile cooperative and take in a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire Medina of Fez. Overnight stay will be at the same riad.
Following breakfast, we will begin our journey southeast toward the Merzouga Desert, passing through Midelt and Errachidia. Our first stop will be the city of Ifrane, often called the "Switzerland of Morocco." During this drive, you'll view the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains.
While visiting the renowned cedar forest, the largest in Morocco, you may spot some playful Barbary macaques. As we approach Errachidia, the landscape changes, signaling that the desert is ahead.
After enjoying lunch in Midelt, our 9-day Morocco itinerary continues through the stunning Ziz Valley, with stops to admire the breathtaking views.
Finally, we will reach our destination, where you will take a camel ride to witness the sunset over the dunes and spend the night in the desert. You will stay overnight in a luxury desert camp, which includes dinner and breakfast.
Rise early to see the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes, enjoy breakfast at the camp, and then depart from the dunes on a camel ride to meet your guide. Alternatively, you can return by 4WD directly from the camp.
Next, we will venture on our journey to the Boumalne Dades, traveling through the scenic Todra Valley and its gorges, where we'll pause to capture photos of the kasbahs. You will have the chance to explore the breathtaking Todgha Gorges on foot before we continue to the Dades Valley. Here, we will spend the night, which includes dinner and breakfast.
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll make our way to Marrakech, passing through the Dades Valley, which features stunning rock formations and historic kasbahs. Next, we'll visit the Valley of the Roses, famous for its roses harvested in May. Our journey continues to Ouarzazate, often called Africa's Hollywood, where you can admire the Taourirt kasbah and tour the film studios.
We will head to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the largest kasbahs in Morocco and is famous for its appearances in films such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and The Jewel of the Nile.
Next, we'll head to Marrakech via the Tichka Pass, one of Morocco's most towering mountains. We'll arrive by late afternoon.
Today, we will have a full-day guided tour of Marrakech. You will visit the city's key attractions and landmarks, including the renowned Jemaa el Fna square, the Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace, Madrassa Ben Youssef, El Badi Palace, the souks, and various palaces and museums.
After lunch in the afternoon, we will explore areas of the city that are part of Marrakech Jdid, the "New City," such as Gueliz and Majorelle Gardens. Then you will have free time to explore on your own.
Depending on your flight schedule, we will transfer you to either Marrakech or Casablanca airport, marking the conclusion of our Morocco in a 9-day itinerary.
