Day 1: Tangier → Rif Mountains → Chefchaouen
Upon arrival at Tangier Airport or Port, you will meet your driver and depart towards Chefchaouen, the famous blue city of Morocco in the Rif Mountains. On the way, you will see small villages along the Rif Mountains. In the afternoon, we arrive in this beautiful blue city, where you will start exploring the Medina and its blue-washed alleys. Chefchaouen is a lovely, unique city with whitewashed walls, blue doors, and blue-washed alleyways. Overnight in a riad in Chefchaouen.
The drive from Tangier to Chefchaouen takes approximately 2.5–3 hours, depending on traffic and stops, making this a relaxed and scenic first day.
Day 2: Chefchaouen → Volubilis Ruins → Meknes → Fes
After breakfast in the Riad, our journey starts towards Volubilis, crossing Ouazzane and other Rif villages. In Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we will discover the Roman ruins and learn about the archaeological significance of this site in Moroccan history.
After visiting the ruins, we drive to Meknes, where we stop at Bab Mansour Gate, one of the most significant gates in Morocco, and Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. After lunch, we drive to Fes, where we spend a night in a riad in the Medina. Overnight in a riad in the Fes medina. Breakfast included.
Day 3: Fes Guided Tour → Ifrane → Midelt
After breakfast, explore Fes with a local guide. Visit the Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud), the Royal Palace gates, the Jewish Quarter, the Mellah, and a panoramic viewpoint over Fes el-Bali, the oldest part of the city. Walk through the medina to see its historic madrasas, tanneries, souks, and traditional craft workshops. Fes served as Morocco’s capital for more than 350 years and is home to Al-Qarawiyyin, recognized as the world’s oldest continuously operating university.
After lunch, depart Fes for Midelt via Ifrane, often called the Switzerland of Morocco, and the Azrou cedar forest, where you may observe Barbary macaques. Overnight in Midelt with dinner and breakfast.
Day 4: Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga Desert
After breakfast at your hotel in Midelt, we start our private journey to Merzouga Desert via the Middle Atlas Mountains and Ziz Valley, where we stop for pictures at a nice panoramic view. Then we arrive in Erfoud, known for its fossils and date palm groves. We have lunch there before continuing our journey towards Merzouga Desert to prepare ourselves for an unforgettable experience.
Once in Merzouga, we are ready to take our camels across the Erg Chebbi dunes to spend the night in the desert and enjoy a stunning sunset. Overnight accommodation will be in a luxury desert camp, where you will experience authentic Berber hospitality. The night includes a delicious dinner and breakfast in the desert, surrounded by the tranquility of the dunes.
The drive from Midelt to Merzouga takes about 5 hours. We recommend packing a small backpack for the camel trek; your main luggage stays safely in the vehicle.
Day 5: Merzouga Desert → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley
Wake early to enjoy sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After showering and breakfast, return to Merzouga by camel or 4x4, depending on your preference and camp arrangements, where you will meet your driver-guide to start your journey towards Dades Valley via a small Berber village. Lunch will be in Tinjdad, and then we drive to Todra Gorges, a dramatic gorge with towering limestone cliffs, popular for walking and photography.
After that, we continue to Dades Valley, where we spend the night. Overnight accommodation will be in a hotel located in the heart of the valley, which includes a delicious dinner and breakfast.
The sunrise camel ride is optional but highly recommended — the early light over the dunes is unforgettable.
Day 6: Dades Valley → Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou → High Atlas → Marrakech
After breakfast at your hotel, travel from the Dades Valley toward Ouarzazate through the Rose Valley, Kalaat M’Gouna, the Route of a Thousand Kasbahs, and the Skoura Oasis. Enjoy scenic stops along the way before arriving in Ouarzazate, a city known as a major filming location in southern Morocco.
Continue to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed ksar and one of Morocco’s most iconic fortified villages. Explore its earthen architecture and learn about its history as a filming location for productions including Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones.
After lunch, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, stopping for photos and panoramic views along the way. Arrive in Marrakech in the early evening, where your tour ends with a drop-off at your riad or hotel.
